Ranking our Summer Signings to date

Image
It's been a while since we did a blog, but we will look at how our signings from the Summer window have fared in the first half of the season rating out of 10 Cyriel Dessers - 5/10 Coming in as our prized striking recruit from Rangers as a replacement for Foti, Dessers has only made 8 appearances in all competitions. Scoring in his first start in the Greek Cup vs Kallithea & consequently scoring in the derby, Dessers sustained an injury which left him out for 2 months. Since coming back he scored against Volos in the league & then got called up to the African Cup of Nations. This has been a frustrating signing as we know his strength & quality but has seen very little field time. At the time of this blog, he has sustained an injury with his home nation requiring an MRI. Vincent Taborda 5/10 Taborda came with big hype & big money move from Boca Juniors after his loan stint with Platense in Argentina. Under 3 different coaches, Taborda has not seen many minutes &...

It is Deja-Vu at Panathinaikos

Weak, cursed, and vulnerable—these are the words I've used to describe our shocking defeat to Vikingur FC. This sense of disappointment has lingered over the past week, resonating deeply with PAO fans who have experienced this all too often.  We start each off-season with optimism, securing promising players after a whirlwind of transfer targets. There's initial promise, but then hiccups occur, nearly derailing our season. We manage a streak of positive results, often with our rivals dropping points, pulling us back into the title race. This pattern results in lackluster performances when we should be winning. The game against Panserraikos stands out as a critical moment. Leading 2-0, we were undone by poor officiating—Dragowski's red card and a dubious penalty, leading to a 2-2 draw. Since...

We are at the halfway point & it's time to look at all the personnel brought in & rate how they have fared so far & grade them. Please note, this article includes transfers this season Tete - 9/10 The transfer of the 24-year-old Brazilian winger, Tete, from Galatasaray to Panathinaikos for approximately €7 million has proven to be a surprising and spectacular signing. His performances have lit up both the European and domestic fronts. Tete has contributed significantly with 8 goals & 1 assist across all competitions, notably scoring the crucial second goal against Lens. Tete's integration into the team has been swift and impactful, indicating that Panathinaikos has potentially found a gem in the transfer market. His contributions will be pivotal as they continue in their campaigns, both in Europe & in domestic leagues, aiming to capitalise on his speed, finishing, & ability to link play. However, enhancing his decision-making in front of goal could eleva...
